Today was Monday, so the week started a bit slow, but still interesting. We traveled to five different stations, learning about the different ways people protect the water we use and return it to the ocean. I leaned many new things, including the fact that the majority of Ohio is rooted on top of an Aquifer. It holds nearly 1.5 trillion gallons of water where we get our drinking water. We even created our own storm drain murals! But the part of the day that I enjoyed the most was making our stories: This is the water, wet and wild That carries the fish, slick and scaly That swim around the creeks, small and winding That travels through the backyards, grassy and large That grounds the plants, lively and colorful That grow with the mud, wet and dirty In our groups, we each picked something found in nature and came up with two adjectives to describe it. I really enjoyed doing this, because there are so many adjectives to describe the great outdoors. Just like me, if I asked those closest around me to describe me, I can promise you that none of them would say the same thing. So picking just two adjectives was a bit of a struggle. I eventually decided on 'grassy' and 'large', which lead to the creation of the line: "That travels through the backyards, grassy and large" The overall creation of the poem I found interesting, it really gives you a glimpse of what is going on in the mind of others...
